Corporate Responsibility
Our decisions and the planning of our
business activities to improve our strategy and
the resulting services are guided by and
based on our code of responsible business
conduct and the main topics of our corporate
responsibility strategy:
•
Human rights
•
Work practices
•
Environment
•
Fair business practices
•
Customer concerns
•
Community engagement and development
Our corporate responsibility is a continuous
process in which we improve our economic
performance, adapt our business, and
optimise the efficiency of production
processes. This is crucial in addressing the
challenges society faces: climate change,
armed conflicts between countries,
humanitarian crises, equal opportunities, and
gender equality. It is part of
HUBER+SUHNER’s corporate responsibility
to contribute to a better world.
We commit to the United Nations Global
Compact and its ten principles, set science-
based greenhouse gas emission targets, and
publish our corporate emissions data of the
HUBER+SUHNER Group, which contribute to
climate change, via the CDP platform. We
have set ambitious goals and regularly
measure our performance and progress.
The continuous path of corporate
responsibility requires even more: Only when
we combine our ambitious goals in terms of
corporate responsibility with business
activities at the management level and anchor
them in every single employee can we
continuously work towards becoming a truly
sustainable company.
Environmental policy
HUBER+SUHNER’s environmental policy:
HUBER+SUHNER considers environmental
protection to be an important and essential
aspect of its social responsibility. All parts of the
HUBER+SUHNER Group comply with relevant
laws and regulations and take responsibility for
the environmental impacts caused by their
activities. The company uses a life cycle
perspective to influence the way its products
and services are designed, manufactured,
distributed, used, and disposed of.
Accordingly, it applies the technique of life cycle
analysis (LCA) to determine the environmental
impacts throughout the value chain from raw
material extraction to disposal or recycling. The
company aims to continuously improve its
environmental performance within the limits of
its economic capacity. Prevention of pollution,
sustainable use of resources, and climate
protection HUBER+SUHNER designs its
products and their respective production
processes with the aim of using raw and
auxiliary materials as well as energy and water
as efficiently as possible. We also aim to avoid
air and water pollution and minimise the use
and disposal of toxic and hazardous chemicals.
HUBER+SUHNER recognises that climate
change is one of the greatest challenges facing
humanity. The company is committed to
continuously and significantly reducing its
greenhouse gas emissions in line with the Paris
Climate Agreement by improving energy
efficiency and increasing the procurement of
energy from renewable sources. Employee
awareness HUBER+SUHNER trains and
informs its employees to enable them to
behave in an environmentally responsible
manner both at work and in their leisure time.
Supplier Obligations
HUBER+SUHNER expects its suppliers to
acknowledge this environmental policy and
commit to environmental protection to the same
extent. The company also considers ecological
aspects in the evaluation and selection of
strategic suppliers.
Contacts with Authorities and Stakeholders
HUBER+SUHNER cooperates openly and
proactively with the respective environmental
protection authorities. The company
communicates honestly with all stakeholders
and strives for a relationship of mutual trust.
